Ritzy hotel suite

Day 2

Since there was going to be so many of us, the adults decided to make a hotel suite stay part of our holiday and that's how we called the Ritz Carlton Residences home for the next few days. Kyan and I were overjoyed by the amount of space it had and playing hide-and seek became our favourite game as we could easily get lost amongst the 3 bedrooms + 1 study + living area + kitchen suite. We were also thrilled by the long bath, but then who wouldn't be in a space filled with lots of water to play with!

Water babies having a blast!

Posing in the corridor.
The study is on our right, kitchen on the left and 3 rooms way back behind us!

Happy Benjamin and his ball.

Look at all the blue around me!

Doing push-ups in the water

We ventured out in search of food today and discovered a Krispy Kreme Donut store = ) As a result, we stuffed ourselves with chocolate and sugar, and even Benjamin got a sugar high from it all!

Stop! No paparazzi allowed when I'm enjoying my snack!

Holiday in KL

We're going on a holiday again! The last time we went on holiday with Ku Jie and Uncle Colin, baby Benjamin was still in Ku Jie's tummy. To complete the family holiday, Mama and Gong Gong John will be joining us in KL on the second day and it'll be Kyan's first trip with the extended family. I'm getting excited as we start packing our suitcases and soon it's time to leave for the airport once again = ]

Day One
On board Tiger Airways

As usual, I'm the cautious one who's checking out the emergency manual..

Lunch at Tony Roma's

To keep me occupied since I always seem to be the first one done with my food, Mummy assigned me the job of recording our Kodak moments at the lunch table. So I dutifully took photos of our first meal in KL at Tony Roma's @ The Pavilion shopping mall.

Oops, Benjamin's not in the mood to be photographed..

Check out the ribs, chicken and er.. spoon!

More food!

Shopping escapade @ Tangs

Ku Jie and Uncle Colin went shopping at Tangs Department Store (now how come the name sounds familiar? ) so i went off with Daddy back to the hotel to take a short nap.

This is the part of the shopping escapade that I wasn't a part of. But it seems that Mummy and Kyan went on an "educational trip" and learnt all about vehicles! Now what do fire-engines, buses and a truck have in common with shoes...? Hmmm...

Family celebration - 2+2

November 30th 2009

We got dressed up to go for dinner today. Not just any dinner though- Mummy and Daddy were celebrating their 7th wedding anniversary and we were "invited along".. So here we are at Magarita's - a cosy little Mexican restaurant near Siglap.

Penang getaway

October 13
Daddy is home after his faraway trip and has brought back two car toys from Hamley's for us. While we're checking them out (trying to make one run off the edge of the table and crashing the other one to see it "break apart), we learn that he's going to be away again later that week. But... we're all going together and surprise surprise.. mama is going on the trip to Penang with us! It'll be our first trip with her and I'm getting very excited as Thursday approaches..

October 14
I told all my friends and teachers at school that I'll be going on holiday and will miss them (esp. Kimberly) and both Kyan and I were quite excited to see the empty suitcases taken out and "magically" full of the usual clothes, diapers, toys and milk the next morning (coz our parents packed them overnight while we were asleep).

October 15
Thursday is here at last! I didn't have to wake up early to go to school and spent the morning playing with Kyan and watching TV till mama arrived with her suitcase at noon. Then it was off to the airport at last to board the plane. After the usual check-in procedures, we waited impatiently at the boarding gate for quite a while coz the plane was slightly delayed. When we finally boarded it, I was a little disappointed, because I had been expecting a personal TV and a tray of food to be served. Although Mummy had told me that it was going to be a very short flight, unlike the previous trips to Australia, I was still expecting a bit more entertainment and food coz the plane looked the same as the ones we sat in. All I got for a meal was some juice and a chicken pie and I fell asleep in a huff in the seat beside mama...Kyan had no trouble though as he promptly fell asleep during take-off and didn't wake till we were stamping our passports at the Penang airport.

Finally, we were on board a taxi and heading to the Parkroyal hotel. It was a long journey though as our hotel was at the other end of the island and the roads were crowded because it was the evening peak period. I was tired and hungry when we finally checked in, but the large comfortable room with a view of the sea and the delicious chicken rice we ate at the hotel's restaurant finally made me a bit happier. Then it's off to bed after a long day. (For once I'm not wedged in between my parents on a bed high above the floor while overseas... hope I don't fall over the side while asleep!)

View from the room.

We never got tired of watching the parasailing activities from the balcony!

Sunset over the Indian Ocean

Water Babies having fun with Daddy when he was finally done with work.

We had a splashing good time with our new friend.

Ok, the signboard can't be seen but this is the famous roadside chendol stall that every Penang visitor has to patronize. Customers gather around the stall eating chendol out of plastic bowls as cars and motorbikes pass them just centimetres away. It was so good we ta-paoed some more to take back to the hotel!

Hmm, the snack stall beside the chendol one didn't seem to be that popular but the peanut candy from here beats those back home anytime!

And that's about all the photos we took for the 4 day trip - mainly because the chief photographer was busy at work in Georgetown, and Mummy and mama had their hands full with the both of us, especially as most of the "sightseeing" took place along narrow five-foot ways and lanes. Kyan might still be too young to remember much of this holiday, but, (apart from the indoor shopping/walking long distances to hail a taxi part...)I certainly will look back upon this trip with fond memories : )

When Daddy was away (Oct)

Picnic@Pasir Ris Park

We were restless on a Saturday mid-morning at the idea of staying home for the entire day since Daddy was at work, so Mummy thought some salty sea air and sunshine might help us beat the blues and whet up an appetite for lunch. So off we went on a picnic to Pasir Ris Park. It was the first time I had cycled so far on my new bicycle and I'm quite proud of myself for making it all the way to the park and back without complaining of tiredness and giving up halfway. Kyan was also full of energy that day and instead of sitting in the stroller as originally planned, he decided to help Mummy push it almost all the way..which slowed us down considerably since it took us more than half an hour to get there instead of 20 minutes. We eventually got there and, as a reward, lunch never tasted so good! (mostly because we were famished after all the exercise!)

Quenching thirst after a long hike.

Yummy salmon rice made yummier coz it's not just lunch but a bento box picnic lunch!

Ok, that was the last of dessert..

One more photo of the sea before we leave.

Kids@Work

Watching an episode of Hi-5! one morning, we came across a segment where Nathan attempted to construct a play city out of plastic materials. Inspired by the creativity of it all, we put together our own version of a play city, complete with roads, buildings, toy people and vehicles.

City in progress. (we forgot to construct the lift for the tall blue building, so the people are stuck on the roof and awaiting rescue..)

Two builders having a serious conversation
Builder T: "We don't have enough money to complete the roads..Where else can we tap funds from??"
Builder K: "Erm... maybe eat one less ice-cream this week??
[In the mean time, people are still stranded on the roof...)

@ Polliwogs Round 2

Visited our favourite indoor playground again when Daddy was in faraway UK receiving his award for "Best Overseas Wedding Photographer of the Year".

Kyan loves the slides!

When Daddy was away (Sept)

September was a busy month for Mummy. Not only was Daddy working on weekends, he was also away from home during the one-week break. We tried to be on our best behaviour but there's only so much TV to watch and computer games to play before we get bored and Mummy had to find ways to help us exhaust our pent-up energy. So here's a list of things we did and places we went to while Daddy was away.

Our favourite game of the month - Pretend Cooking and Baking.
As a treat for good behaviour, (and to get us out of the way while she did the Real baking), Mummy made dough for us and we spent an afternoon creating our masterpieces.

Do we have everything we need for our culinary adventure?

Yum! We may be wonderful cooks, but home-made strawberry ice-cream is still the best!

The real deal - Lime Yogurt Cake, which we had for supper.

Auntie Michelle aka Kyan's Godma, capturing me capturing her on camera.

Auntie Joycelyn aka my Godma, visited as well and stayed over to keep us company.

That weekend, Mummy discovered a new playground at East Coast Park. She was searching for an indoor area where we could run wild safely for a little while and give her a break from our ever-high energy levels, and she came across "The Polliwogs". So off we went on a little playdate with Mummy's friend and her sons.

Burying ourselves in the ball-pit.

Our new friend Rayden.

Not many photos here to justify the wonderful play area coz Mummy was enjoying her own adult company but we'll definitely be back to climb and slide and shoot balls from the ball guns again!
