I celebrated my 4th birthday with my friends belatedly when school reopened in Term 3. My parents ordered my usual favourite chocolate cake, though there was no car design this year. There was one extra child in the classroom this time - Kyan, and I was quite excited to have my friends meet my little brother.
Yummy cake and presents galore!
Hmm, why do Mummy and Daddy look happier than us even though it's my celebration? Maybe it's because all the planning for today has finally ended!
Preparing to sing the birthday song. Kyan seems to fit right in with his red stripey shirt!
I hope my wish comes true after blowing out these candles..
Still thinking about my wish...
In the end, my wish didn't come true... I wished that Mummy and Daddy would take me home right after the birthday party, but they left after snack time was over. I had been fretting over whether I could go off with them the moment they arrived so if anyone's wondering why all the photos show me looking so serious, you have your answer.. I didn't give up without a fight though and threw my usual crying fit when they were about to leave. ( I can hear Mummy sighing loudly at this point)
Wonder if they'll still want to celebrate my birthday in school next year...
Blowing candles and cutting cake@ mama's house
We were in Australia during our birthdays, so mummy steamed a chocolate cake (not a typo error..she was trying out a new cake recipe) and we had a belated celebration at mama's house.
p.s. number of candles doesn't depict our ages coz we realised at the last minute that we had only one candle left (from uncle colin's birthday celebration a few months back!!)
Kyan thinking about what to wish for...
I'm enjoying all the attention!
Ok, I'll let my brother blow it out this time.
Continuing the home-made theme, mummy baked her own birthday muffins. We joined in by helping to pour the ingredients into the mixing bowl and scooping the mixture into the mould. I tried to hasten the process by repeatedly asking when they would be ready.
Finally, they were done and our efforts captured for posterity!

I'm trying to smile and wink at the same time in this photo..
Finally, it was Daddy's turn to celebrate his birthday. This time though, the cake was a store-bought one and Uncle Colin, Ku Jie and baby Benjamin came to celebrate it with us.
For once, Daddy is in the photo.
Everyone wanted to have a go at the candles. Of course, the privilege went to the birthday "man"!
Yum! I shouldn't waste the last speck of chocolate!
With that, we concluded the whole round of birthday celebrations in June, July and August - with loads of chocolate cake and (hopefully) one step closer to wisdom.
