Baby Kyan is weaned

Updates on Baby Kyan

I've been hogging the blog pages recently, so guess it's time for some updates on my brother. He's reached a significant milestone this month and is slowly weaning himself off the watery, oily stuff that Mummy calls breastmilk. Prior to this, he's been moving his mouth and looking really interested in whatever I eat, so everyone decided it's time he tasted something other than a nipple, whether natural or synthetic... Here's the results of his first attempts at eating rice cereal.

He's doing very well at swallowing his food, better than me when I was his age, so the adults say. After a few tries, everything now goes into his mouth and there's no wastage. I'm happy that he's now into semi-solids because I also get to eat extra!! Everytime his mealtime comes around, I also demand a little snack - all's fair in the Loh household!

Under the "Sea"

Sentosa Underwater World

I keep asking about the trams running overhead whenever we leave Vivocity so my parents decided to fulfil my request and take us to Sentosa. Since it was a rainy, humid afternoon, Daddy thought this was the perfect place. Being indoors, everyone won't be cranky because of the humidity, I get to be entertained for a while and Daddy could try out his never-ending camera toys - Perfect!

Big, no, HUGE scary crab!! I had to persuaded to stand near the glass.

This is so surreal! I didn't like some of the big fish swimming around in the glass tanks, ("Tristan scared scared") but these jellyfish seem harmless enough. I like the way they float around and baby seems quite fascinated too (though he doesn't appear in any of the photos coz he's in the photographer's carrier pouch)

We're on a conveyer belt that takes us under the glass tanks. Being Tristan Mark, I was still more intrigued by the moving conveyer belt rather than the various assortment of fish. Nevertheless, seeing so many live swimming fish and various sea creatures was quite an eye-opener and they definitely look different from the dead and cold fish i usually see at the wet market or supermarket.

The highlight of our little trip to Sentosa - hopping on and off the buses that take us around the island. (Mummy wonders when I'll ever grow out of this obsession with things on wheels!) Only regret was that we didn't get to try out the beach trams coz my afternoon nap was overdue and we had to go home. Never mind - we'll definitely be back!

Tris & Kyan

Went out one weekend and took some photos of me and baby Kyan.
He's more smiley than me when I was his age, but it's difficult to make him smile for the camera because he will stare at the camera lens and wonder why he can't see a face smiling back at him.

This is the closest to a smile that Daddy managed to capture.

Hmm, how do I make him smile? Aha, I know. Will make some funny faces at him.

At last! A smile at last from my little brother : )

1,2,3,4,Hi-5!

My First Concert

6th Sept - attended my very first concert one day after Daddy came back from the land of Koalas and Kangaroos. Incidentally, the group performing is Australian too. I've only previously seen them on TV and they were my noon-time companions while Mummy prepared lunch for me. Now I actually get to see them sing and dance live on stage and guess what... I was much more interested in the technical details! (Big sigh from Mummy) They were fantabulous on stage according to her but hey, i've never seen these many moving star-shaped lights before! And when other children got up to dance and sing along, I preferred to remain seated and watch the action from the comfort of my booster seat. Hmm, is this a sign that I'm ready for more serious stuff? (or just that I'm still wondering how those people got from the TV screen to the Expo stage)

My 2 month old brother

Deciding whether to smile for the camera

This is Daddy's favourite photo of him so far...
He looks more like Mummy here : )

Kyan looking at the mobile I used to own. I will try to turn the dial for him when the music stops, then get scolded for climbing onto his cot..I used to have to look at it when I needed to poo poo (or so Mummy says), but Kyan doesn't need any external stimulus. He poos all the time!

Outings

Some of the places I went to over the past two months...

@ Ann Siang - Visited the place where Daddy spent part of his childhood

@The Marina Mandarin Hotel
We had a date with Godma and discovered this playground haven (heaven for Mummy and Daddy) just outside the restaurant. That meant that everyone could take their own time to eat and not worry about me being bored at the dining table. Of course, the flip side was that I was more interested in the playground than in my lunch...

Whee! Fantastic view from the top!

Law-enforcement officer making his rounds

Move over Michael Schumacher! Meet Ferrari's latest star - Tristan LohMark!

Knock Knock - Who's there?
Just Tristan, checking out his holiday home : )

@ The Hair Salon
My most recent visit to the hair salon.
This kid's corner is just for toddlers like me who dislike haircuts and need constant entertainment and stimulation... Guess that's where the bill for my hair cut goes to - to upkeep these fancy rides and help the salon pay for kiddie entertainment (I'm actually watching Barney on the screen in front of me). What happened to good ol barber chairs?

@Coffee Club

My latest food "addiction" - Chocolate Cake aka Brown Cake. The grin on my face says it all!

@ Tank Road

I got quite restless during mass one Sunday so Daddy took me out for a walk and I made some new friends!

My brother

My Brother Kyan

What with baby Kyan feeding and pooing and fussing to be carried most of the time, Mummy has no time to set up a blog for him so I have decided generously to "share" my space with him. Anyway, now that he is inextricably a part of my life story too, I guess we can record our lives' events together.

This is one-month old Kyan, taken after his man yue celebrations. He has really grown, from 2.95 Kg at birth to a whooping 4.7 kg a month later! Look at his chubby cheeks, fingers and thighs!

Bath-time..Baby Kyan likes water and will stay very still for Mummy to wash him. With the vast amounts of waste he keeps producing, he smells best after his bath.. for a while at least until the whole cycle of feeding, spitting up milk and pooing begins again.

Baby Kyan

It's been 3 weeks now since i "welcomed" the newest addition to the family who arrived somewhat unexpectedly during Mummy's routine check-up at the clinic. From hearing his heartbeat there, to being whisked off home coz Mummy had to be warded that very afternoon to seeing him in person the very next day, I can only say these 3 weeks have been a flurry of activity for me. Not sure how I feel about him though - right now, he's only capable of drinking milk, (endlessly it seems...), crying (and making me uncomfortable when he goes on and on), and sleeping (not much in the night though). I don't like it when he cries at night and wakes me up, or when Mummy has to feed him and I want to play... but he's cute in his own tiny way..

His head is so much smaller than mine!

Sayang -ing baby Kyan

Are these two the same babies? Actually, they're of me and my baby brother. Make a guess who's who!

Two Candles, Two Cakes! Happy 2nd B'day Tristan!

June 8th, 2007
Happy 2nd Birthday Tristan!

As usual, me being the big-shot one in the family, I got to celebrate my birthday twice this year - once on the actual day with Mummy and Daddy, and once over the weekend when more people are free to come and sing Happy Birthday to me! This time however, Mama and Grandpa John got to celebrate my birthday too via the webcam. Daddy bought a small cake with a Thomas the Train picture on top (which can't be seen here coz Daddy didn't take the cake...) and I got to blow 2 candles, much to Mummy's delight... She's been waiting for me to be able to blow out my own candles ever since my 1st birthday! Check out some of my photos below.

Pretending to play the "Happy Birthday" tune
on my imaginary piano

Getting ready to blow out the candles.. One more candle to go!

Trying to show two fingers

Me deep in thought and trying to count how many more pieces of delicious cake
left to eat before I've to wait one more year for my next birthday...

Happy Birthday Tristan (one more time

My birthday celebration, part two - this time with mama, Uncle Glen, Ku Jie and Uncle Colin. Kong Kong couldn't make it coz he was sick. Had lunch at Mui Lum, one of Daddy's favourite eating haunts. Of course the highlight of it all was the cake and candles! This time, the cameraman remembered to take a picture of the cake!

One for the camera. Whose smile is brighter?

Huh? I forgot to make a wish before cutting the cake??

Yum, the best part of the cake has got to be the cream : )

That concludes my 2nd birthday celebration! This is a special one for me because the next time my birthday comes around, I might not be the only star anymore!
Mummy didn't know it yet at that time, but this is one of the last few pictures of her pregnant state...Tune in for more on me and my brother, baby Kyan in the next post!
